The Unflappable Gates Does It Again!

“Maybe that’s them inviting us in for tea and crumbs,” I said.

“Perhaps. Right now our energies would be best invested in deciding what to do for our final moments,” twinkled Gates lecherously.

“So that’s it, you’re giving up?!” I couldn’t tear my eyes from the viewscreen. It was filling up with fighters like an angry swarm of bees. I started to press buttons at random.

“Au contraire, my dear,” he said, wrapping his arms around me to do a few steps of the tango before dipping me. “I did not make the Kickdick run in twelve parsecs by accident.”

Gates twirled me. “To send their fighters out, they need to open their shields…” He dipped me again. “…and we are moving at a velocity that will allow us to penetrate their hull before they are able—oh, here we go!”

The ship shook, a grinding sound reverberating throughout the hull.

Gates skipped to the hatch and popped it. It swung open to an astonished trooper on the can, peering over The Imperial Gazette.

“Shall we, dear?” said Gates, extending an arm.
