You really hit the ground running with this one, but you lose a lot of momentum halfway through with “Like all of the willowy, voluptuous blue women of her people…”
Also, the princess seems to be surprisingly okay with being kidnapped by a savage who just killed a bunch of her people. I’m curious about which direction zxvasdf’s sequel takes this.
To your first point, you’re right. I wanted to parody the too-common phenomenon in sci-fi of making alien females uniformly gorgeous, no matter how hideous the males are. But there probably aren’t the characters to do that well.
As for the second point, that was also a jab at the pulp adventure idea of the noble savage and decadent civilisation. But again, I didn’t really have the characters to do that well.
Challenge Critique: This is really cool. I love the unique characters you’ve created. Nice action too! It’s a little too Fantasy for the Sci-Fi I was looking for in this challenge, but an awesome story nevertheless. Thanks for the great entry, Sanglorian.
