I think you’ve expressed his voice perfectly – it’s distinct and convincing. I’m not sure that the last paragraph is a fitting end – I find it quite confusing about who this woman is and why her husband dying in the fire is relevant.
Thank you for the comment. The memories of mundane conversations with one friend is contrasted with the lack of grief over the tragic death of another. Hence the title of the piece. It’s a comment on the complexities of emotions involving death. It is not important “who” these people are.
