How can a surgery be successful if it’s unfinished?

That said, I can totally see this character in my mind’s eye.

One more question before I go: why did you make the character female? I don’t mean to stereotype, but it seems like the vast majority of computer engineers are male.

@Cthuluburger- Successful in the fact that all the parts work, unfinished as in the chest cavity (or equivalent here) is still open. She ended up female probably from a couple of reasons: anime, some female programmers I know, and mostly because when I started writing (at what became the second paragraph), I could see than hands and fingers moving. Mostly it felt right.

Surgery, like facial reconstruction, can be a work in progress!

I see her cloistered inside a filthy tenement… or inside the claustrophobic steel trap of an apartment, as part of a hive community.

But whoever’s at the door, does it mean she will need to run?

Great imagery! It sets a distinct mood. Im picturing someone like Oracle (the former Batgirl), though the name makes me think that at some point she’ll break out into a chorus of “Snowbird.”
