Yes! I love it, especially the last two lines.

When the mom calls the kid kiddo, it felt like someone else was talking. I think a different endearment might flow better.
Other than that,I think that the rest of the story flows really naturally. Great job!

Thanks, Emilou and zxvasdf. I tried an edit on what she calls him. I was tired of having her say his name and wanted to replace it with something. ‘Kiddo’ didn’t fit; you were right. Not sure if I improved though. Something more British maybe? I dunno.
