From a Plane Up in the Sky (7/31/2006)

I look down at the world from a great big height
What a wonder, it seems, what a beautiful sight
To, for once, be above what was never below
And a burden of beauty doth this landscape behold
Yes, this carpet of of land, so large yet so small
It’s hard to believe it is home to us all
For a valley as large as the palm of your hand
Between mountains taller than one man could stand
As I stare at the world and the lake’s surface gleam
I laugh at those who think they’re bigger than me
For no matter how much fame, how rich, or how poor
We all are as worthless as a rotten apple core
No matter how many things you do wrong and regret
It doesn’t matter anyway, so just live and forget

(An old poem I found in its original, unedited [except for spelling] state.
Wow… I was a pretty hardcore 5th grader… an emo, yet very confident 11-year-old wordsmith.)
