I know I haven’t described how it actually looks. I’ve left that open to everyone’s interpretation, seeing as everyone has a different view of the world. I justs ort of laid the brickwork.

Interesting alternate history. I definitely would like to know what updated Caribbean pirates would be like. Would they retain their romanticized pirate culture or take up some of the more vicious ways of modern Somali pirates and Mexican river pirates?

Excellent addition! I look forward to more contributions from you for both story and setting. I imagine the monstrosities to be like some kind of sky kraken or clouds of jelly with dangling tentacles and other beasties that Lovecraft could be proud of.

Actually, originally the monstrosities were just what I imagined the locals would call the airships. But I like the sounds of Lovecraftesque creatures protecting the city!

This story was cool, but add Robert Quick’s notion of “sky kraken or clouds of jelly” and the setting becomes awesome!
