Ficly

Prodigal Son

There are the monsters
Called consequence, troubles and pain
Sinking their mighty teeth
Into your delicious tiny brain
Venom numbing your senses
Swirling through your veins
Your eyes are tunneling black holes
Dipping into the grumbling insane
I’m trudging this road
I’m hiking this trail
Same one which you’ve diverted
With no way to prevail
I’ll still be here
When you come home
Arms outstretched
Like you’ve never gone
I’ll still be here
When you change your mind
To steadily ascend the road to life
You and me, side by side
