SILENT EYES chap 1 part 1
Chapter1: Cinderella
There are many forms of the story Cinderella and everyone knows at least one of them. There’s the classic Disney version, the Ronald Dohl, that is a bit bloodier, and then there’s this version. In this version there are no glass slippers, no princes, no balls, no castles, no fairy god mothers, no pumpkins that turn into carriages or mice that turn into horses. But there is a girl called Cinderella and she does clean a lot.
Her feet were very dirty. She observed the callous effect the concrete basement floor had to their bottoms. The hum of a fan filled the air, grumbling a foreign chant over her like a Indian priest as if to prepare her for the day. “CINDERELLA!” bellowed a voice from upstairs suddenly. Her eyes peered upward cautiously as she followed the sound of pounding feet and a trail of falling dust until it was right overhead. The pounding ceased momentarily then stomped three more times,“CINDERELLA!" Sighing she rose and followed the voice that beckoned her.
