Lovely scene. There is actually a Dr Who episode with this idea/theme in it. Nicely told, straight-forward and with a fittingly dark mood to it.

I actually remember that Dr. Who episode vaguely; perhaps that’s where my brain got the idea.

I’ve never seen that episode but it reminded me of the Dictionopolis Word Market in The Phantom Tollbooth:

“Step right up, step right up—fancy, best-quality words right here,” announced one man in a booming voice. “Step right up—ah, what can I do for you, little boy? How about a nice bagful of pronouns—or maybe you’d like our special assortment of names?”

Nice vignette. It gives us a glimpse of this world. I can imagine her body covered in patches with different emotions.

There are some grammar problems that distract from the piece. A little editing would be good.

I like it, and agree with smdasilva that some grammar tweaks would improve things.

I didn’t understand why the sister’s looking for Lust, though.

@Sanglorian: I don’t really have any reason for the sister looking for Lust, except that I needed Iren to be alone (i.e. I needed a reason why her sister wouldn’t accompany her on the search for Sanity)… Is it too weird/confusing of a line?

Why not look for lust? Lust is fun ;) Where would we be in life if we never wanted anything?
