Four

As the music ebbed and flowed like a creek, he stared out at the uninspiring landscape.
I suppose everything is unremarkable as it passes by at 60mph, he thought to himself.
The smell of the oncoming rain was becoming overwhelming, stronger than all the other little details of his environment. The freezing cold? Managable. The lack of comversation? A warrented silence. But the rain, he thought with considerably more than a hint of annoyance, fuck the rain.
He viciously turned the music up in a worthless attempt to drown his feelings about the rain, thinking just maybe he could overload his senses and regain some sense of self.
The rain loudly and relentlessly smashed into the windshield as the car moved across the asphalt.
