Dangling
Our feet hang off the edge getting hit by every wave out there. This is why June 12 was the best day ever. I got to spend the whole day on a beautiful cruise with my beautiful fiance Nick. They had the most amazing food here and anything else you could imagine right on the boat. There were kids fresh out of high school having parties before their college experience began. There were families on vacation and people on anniversaries, people on honeymoons and people getting married. I stand up by the edge.
“I’m on top of the world!” I exclaim. Nick laughs behind me. I turn around.
“What?” He asks.
“Come stand by me.”
“That’s really not a good idea.”
“Why not?”
“I’m afraid of water.”
“Please.”
“Alright.” I look back at the ocean and hear him shuffling around behind me. He never appears beside me though. After a long wait I turn to look at him. The knife in his hand isn’t welcoming, neither is the grin on his face.
“Nick-” But it’s too late. The knife crosses my throat and his foot pushes me overboard…
