The Last Reunion: Dreams of Silk
New Reunion darkened with the sky. Lamps lined the edges of the rough streets and neither coal, nor oil was wasted on keeping them lit.
Sam passed a couple of general stores that according to the broken English catered to Min of Hi Kalibur. The words carried him back to the sweaty sheets deep inside the Silk Lily. He’d heard the dark rumors about the place, but he’d never seen anything but pleasure girls and naked flesh the few times he’d had enough money to go inside. His girl, at least he thought of her as his girl, was a fiery thing with an unpronounceable name. Sam called her Yo-yo. It was good enough for her. Usually. Hopefully this bounty would give him enough money to call on her again, maybe enough to buy a long contract. He rubbed the last patch of fur on his lucky rabbit’s foot for luck and kissed the blue scarab that he wore around his neck.
It didn’t take him long to size up the entire town. It was as shabby as it looked with much of it already abandoned. Thankfully, the saloon was still open.
