oo, ominous! Who knows what or who could be creaking into the library! I like how you give her a moment to deliberate on replacing the book, for she is a fastidious librarian, though it seems she has been away a LONG time.. You have a few places you could clean up, like “the first thing she notices”, just tell what she notices, because of course it is the first thing! It will be the first thing you tell us! Also, you mention several times that the room is pristine, when for ficly’s sake, you could mention it once to save characters and throw in some description to make that exact 1024 count. We call that Ficly Nirvana. :)
