Thirsty Flames
Was I still alive?
 Thirsty fire murmurs around me.
 A dark flame, gigantic flames
 Burning something
 Beasts to the slaughter
 Fire!
Babies, adults, children sleep in the flames.
Slow agony, lack of air; Look at it!
Flames gushing, screams, tears broken loose.
Yes, we did see the flames.
Never lose faith, there’s nothing there.
 Surely it was a dream.
 Anything is possible.
 Fire!
Straight to the furnace, whose bodies
should be on the threshold of death
 Frizzled away, turned into ashes.
 That’s your grave.
 The pit and it’s flames,
 Say the Kaddish.
 Poor devils, damned souls:
 Hell must look like this.
