Who could resist writing a sequel with a set-up like this? Not I. Whether intended or not, I detect influences from Terry Pratchett (any novel involving Leonard of Quirm or the Unseen University), Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) and Mervyn Peake (Gormenghast).
