In the Garden: Heart of the Rose IV
She smiled, “I think I should like that.”
Into the night Edwin and Angelica talked and made love. Ever the teacher, he pressed her for answers, making her put into words her newly found abilities. She resisted, craving a return to that moment when her body shook with release and magic roared like fire within.
As false dawn turned the night sky grey she got out of bed and crossed his room to the window. “I don’t know Edwin! It was only just yesterday that my magic did anything other than shimmer tantalizing just out of my reach. And you know what, it still does!” She opened the shutters then ran her fingers through her hair, “It’s just now, I get this sense of waiting. As if any moment I will be presented with another vision and the means to avert it.”
He met her at the window and wrapped his arms around her from behind. Dropping a kiss on her shoulder he murmured, “I’m sorry. I do not mean to frustrate you.”
She turned in his arms and clung to him, her earlier brightness fading still. “Take me to bed.”
