I love the poignant and awful beauty of this piece. With the subject matter it could easily have been sentimental, but the well-chosen haunting details and the way it’s told through implication make it really work.
Having the name in in the tags must mean this is a portrayal of a real person.. I’m sure many stories similar to this one have been lost. That is the real tragedy.
And thank you as well ElshaHawk; also, yes, I wrote this after I read “Night” by Elie Wiesel, who was a survivor of Auschwitz. One passage in particular about a fellow Jew in the camps who was a seasoned violinist just tore my heart out, I had to write about it. It was an incredible story.
