“It’s happening again.”
“What is?”
“Well you may recall we had a conversation back when Ficlets was still around about people who decide that they’re going to write a story, and then immediately follow it up with another one, then another one, then another one…”
“Ah yes, the whole ‘series’ thing. I seem to recall you reckon that it goes against the entire point of what a Ficlet…”
“Ficly.”
“…Yes, of what they are.”
“Exactly. If people want to write a longer story, why put their work on a site with such strict limitations? I mean, it’s pretty damned pointless. They could start a fiction blog, or join a writing community.”
“Or there’s that other site by the guys who set up FanFiction.net. I can’t remember what it’s called.”
“No, nor can I. But I know it’s geared specifically towards longer original fiction.”
“So your argument, as I understand it, is that people should use Ficly for its intended purpose. Short, quickfire stories, that others can come along and expand upon if they wish. Am I right?”
