On Patrol: Walk About
Walking around the ship with no destination in mind gave me time to think. I felt wound up tight, my chest compressed like a spring and sitting in my cabin wasn’t going to help. If I didn’t do something all of that energy would come crashing out uncontrollably, like gas escaping violently from a balloon. I unbuttoned the two buttons of both the shirt and coat collars to loosen some of the tension. It helped a little.
I wanted to inform the crew but that wasn’t my duty. It was just knowledge that begged to be shared. However, I didn’t want to undercut the captain either. The crew didn’t trust me completely yet. It would be better to inform Banon and let him tell them what they need to know. That could wait for now. It was always better to follow the chain of command and we had the time. We were a good ways from any border unless there were shortcuts I didn’t know about.
Pacing the long steel walkways, I kept a hand on the rail- just in case, and headed topside. Perhaps some fresh air would do me good.
