I can completely imagine this scene. It’s written so beautifully and well, and I can feel her sorrow. The last two paragraphs were my favorites, but I loved all of it. Really, great work!
It’s a painful decision and nicely told to understand her decision. That last sentence in the first paragraph feels like a run-on, but I could be wrong. Certainly does have potential for sequel or prequel.
I hope there is a happy ending on the horizon. It’s too sad as is, but well written. I want more because I feel like it just can’t end like that. Your style is straight forward and accurately aimed at the heart.
