The Glass Globe Incident
It was over before I knew what happened. The crunching, and hissing I only remember as breathy memory, not as visceral experience.
I don’t recall stopping the delivery truck. I only started to come out of my daze as I walked around the back to see the damage, walking through the gore and fluids I couldn’t identify. My shoes stuck to the road as I lifted my eyes to see how many others there were. Sticking to goo and gravel, none of us looked away.
The glass bubble was broken and strewn across the road. Before the accident it must have been at least twenty feet across. Everything was covered in a thin blue gel, almost camouflaging the bodies. Every organ had burst.
Hoverglobes have been around for a ages now, but until now they had all been glowing orange and unmissable. This one though… This one would have blended into the sky. The bodies inside would not have been visible. Their refractive indices would have been identical to that of the gel. There is no way this would have been licensed by Smatomacon.
