Exciting stuff and works in the sense of the character being thrown off kilter by all this. The last line didn’t work for me, as he’s already at least a bit frightened, on account of being kidnapped and all that. Maybe something more along the lines of his fear doubling or expanding or sinking in? Still, very exciting stuff.
