Aww this is actually very sweet and quite heartbreaking. I must admit I have great feelings for my cacti – especially my favourite: Mr Prickles.

The personification worked really well. I felt a definite tug at my heartstrings. Great descriptions in the fifth paragraph but I think the last phrase of it could have been a sentence of it’s own to increase the impact.

This is someone who takes gardening very, very seriously. Nicely told from that perspective. Makes for a very touching, tragic scene.
