...That's when it happened
My brother often gets lost in thought, but when I checked, his gaze was transfixed on the heavens. “Do you see that?” he asked. Curious, I too looked to the sky. Immediately I spotted an odd star cluster, which seemed to be swimming overhead as would a school of fish.
“What in the hell are they?” I uttered. Then the seven points of light halted in the shape of a Heptagram. After my mouth fell agape, before I could speak again, a brilliant column of light shot out from the celestial shape’s center and encased my brother.
In our final moments together, we locked eyes and I saw no pain or fear. Reaching out, I received a mild electrical jolt keeping me at bay, “Clay, I can’t—” I was gripped with panic, indecision, and tears starting welling, “Should I get help?”
Looking skyward he said, “I don’t believe I need it…yet.” My eyes followed his, to the now spinning Heptagram. Heartbeats later, a blinding flash and crushing discovery that I was alone on the roof.
Clueless as to what happened, until years later…
