Funny back and forth between the two and fleshes out the characters a bit more. Flannel and denim? Grunge mythological creatures? Not a bad detail—just stuck out to me is all.
I had to get in a reference to the flannel shirt and unbuttoned denim. Not intended to be so much “grunge” as “’60s beatnik” and “extremely Canadian” … although kinda funny to think of them as grunge rebels! :)
Ah, silly me I forgot the setting. Yes, flannel would be very Canadian. Also, I think it’s very Western Canadian, and I’ve known way more Eastern Canadians. The glasses do go with the beatnik thing as well, maybe with one of those beards that just goes around the face without being on it at all.
HAHA! Yes! Exactly that beard! If you get deep into Northern Ontario you’ll hit the “lumberjacks”, same throughout the Eastern provinces to an extent, but mostly only in the smaller towns (road tripped East Provinces for 3 weeks this summer).
I still need to road trip the central provinces, but I’ve heard it gets extremely “cowboy” in those provinces, especially Alberta. I feel this tale will only be fully possible after I make the trip to Northern Alberta and then up into the Northwest Territories next summer. You know… feel like the buffalo of old on a migration path haha!
