I really liked how you seperated the various speakers so precisely. How they seemed to be different planes of his conscience . Another good one Mem, well done.
I love that the moral is in there, whether others condemn me for it or not. :) The descriptions of the voices mimicking descriptions of liquor or beer is genius! This is animated, but serious as well.
Yes I did expect this sort of entry – very depressing, very deep. But that’s what I was asking for so hooray! I would be interested to know which voice is which. I’m guessing that the last one is vodka, the first wine and the middle whiskey? So in the tag order. Either way, very good descriptions of comparing their voices with their taste.
I like the way that you have removed the blame from alcohol itself…almost as though the drink is literally being abused. Clever. For me, your first line is definately the best and you maintain the drinker’s presence throughout the piece even when the focus is switched, which is pretty cool.
I think the exclamation mark after the question mark in line 9 is unnecessary, as it makes the voice seem almost sarcastic in my mind. The repetition itself provides plenty emphasis. Anyhoo…a wonderful concept very well written. Thanks for the entry, Abby x
@ Abby — Your interpretation is wholly sound. As anything is capable of becoming addicted to (either chemically or habitually), it would seem the flaw that causes addiction is in humanity, and not in the thing itself.
