The thrill of the kill

Vexion steadied her grip on the drawn bow, keeping a seemingly impenetrable gaze on the deer before her. She made sure her aim was perfect so there was no likelihood of her missing the shot. She curled her lip into a tight snarl, and released the arrow. The buck emitted one last, excruciating cry before falling to the barren floor. The wind blew over the cold plain, making the grass whistle in a sort of mourning choir. All was silent as Vexion strode pompously towards her kill. She began her work to skin and collect the meat from the animal. It took a while, but soon she was finished and on her way to the town in which she took up residence in the local inn. It was a quiet and somewhat lonely life, as she was almost never at her room. But, when she WAS there, it was like being home again in the swamps of the Black Marsh. She gazed around the land, admiring the peaking mountains, staring in awe at the bumbling and babbling creeks and rivers, humming with the insects that made their home here.Sweet peace…
