It’s a casual murder, almost bored. Ho hum, we slice and stab, all in a day’s work. Nothing to see here folks, just a dead god, just the end of the last magick, move along. :) Where’s the emotion!? I am unsatisfied. The smile is plastered on, the smile is not happy, more maniacal. Cold, I guess, but more unsatisfying than heavy or sad.
I get that this challenge is encouraging this exact kind of story, and you did a fabulous job, but the very nature of the writing this challenge asks for is grating on my nerves.. :)
My apologies, Elsha— my latest challenge asks much and gives little. The tone of almost any story entered is likely to be… less than uplifting. It’s not my usual style but I’m in a dark mood.
As for this story, I say good job. It feels bitter, resigned and yet entirely without remorse.
