The bit about dresses and rings really ties it all together, stands out against the rest as almost delicate and elegant despite itself.

It seems like a delicate piece of something remarkably (and purposefully) indelicate even though it’s the only part that states your dislike for those things. A very nice contrast, and really well done.

I can really relate to what you’re saying, and that’s probably a big part of what made me like it so much… I love how you can make emotions scream out of the words and structure.

Reading between the lines I was thinking it’s addressed to a step-mom, or maybe foster or adopted mother. Could easily be wrong, but that’s my guess.

@THX – it was aimed at the best friend with whom I was then fighting. Weirdly enough, I actually have a perfect family. I’m glad I have ficly too…although I’m getting annoyed with myself for not writing fiction anymore.
