I thought the last line was a solid one. It cuts through the techno-babble to the heart of what matters (at least to the characters): power. They can spout all they want about the maths and such, but what really counts is whether it can be employed against their enemies.
For some reason, I pictured Jo-Beth and Dr. Rimini as a student and professor, and their exchange in a classroom. That image didn’t seem to hold up well throughout the story, so I think I interpreted it wrong. Still, the names through me just a bit.
