Glass Eyes
I open my eyes to white walls and cold metal chained to my wrists and ankles. I try to scream but my voice is mute under the tube down my throat. I kick and pull until I feel the chains against my ankles and wrists tear through my flesh. The man in the white coat shoves me onto a table and begins to wheel me through the sterile white hallway. A sob is stuck in my throat and tears swell into my eyes and down my bleeding ears. All I can think is how I’ve let him down, how hard I’ve tried to keep him safe, and all for nothing. The man wheeling me shoves open a gray door and forcefully rips the tube out of my throat, I cough up blood and begin screaming, as they lock me in a glass box.
