Almost everyone has heard the tragic story of poor Jimmy Winters. You haven’t? Well, you will when I am finished. Jimmy worked construction. Jimmy was good, some might say very good, at his work. He was conscientious, always on time, and always put in a full days work.
This fateful day Jimmy was working on a concrete elevator shaft, five stories above the ground. Something in his rigging failed and poor Jimmy plunged to his demise. Laying in the wet concrete Jimmy’s last thought was to the completion of his work. Some say that’s why the elevator in this particular building acts the way it does today. When the building is empty one might see the elevator move from floor to floor by itself. Some have reported seeing a man in a hard hat for just an instant when those doors open. Others have reported hearing voices and hammering in the elevator shaft.
So the next time you are on an elevator by yourself, yet you feel like someone is with you, or watching you, it might be Jimmy.
