Lovely mood and feel to it, only momentarily disrupted by the lapse into past tense in the middle (the sentence about summer evenings in the South). That sentence also stands out as the only broad stroke or exposition type sentence. If you could get that point across with a more closely tied and present tense statement, the whole piece would really rock.
