I Wouldn’t Be Surprised

“Earlier today, President Obama announced that the sky is blue. Here with the Republican response, is Senator Poyer.”

The scene switched to a tall, rail-thin man stepping up to a podium. “Good afternoon. In his speech this morning, President Obama stated that ‘the sky is blue.’ I find it deeply disturbing that the President is so divisive as to associate the sky with the color associated with Democrats. It’s as if he is saying that Democrats are better than – that is, above – the hard working, middle class Americans who live and work on the ground. I for one, find his making that association deeply offensive.

“Now, if he was implying that ‘the sky’s the limit’ when it comes to the wasteful government spending favored by his administration, then we would agree on something. But I very much doubt that was the meaning he intended.”
