The Oldest Truck Driver

I have seen civilizations rise and fall
and generations live and die
in a blink of my eye
When you’ve lived as long as I have, time starts to contract
I started as a slave driver
then ship’s captain, then truck driver and airplane pilot
Always transporting, never stopping
For if I stop, they’ll learn my secret
They’ll see this old man never dies
For quite a while, after pilot, I flew the spaceways in my ship
at near the speed of light.
But now that all the shipping lanes are connected through the Gates,
there’s nothing left to transport, at least in this universe.
So please, let me come with you, to the parallel worlds.
Who knows, perhaps on one of them,
I can transport once again
