What's Important
You’ve been searching for something
That’s proven so elusive,
It’s leaving your mind racing.
Constantly chasing it as if
You even have a clue.
All you do is work,
Like there’s nothing else left.
Feeling numb, without hurt
Or joy, or any rest.
You’ve lost sight of what’s important.
So many days filled with gray,
You’re barely pulling through.
While your daughter wants to say
She wishes you would just stop
And talk like you are her friend.
Finally you decide it’s enough,
You’ll never be happy here.
Things are just too tough.
After all these years,
You just give up.
The house, the car, the money,
They just don’t make you happy.
While you walk out she cries softly,
You’ve forgotten about your family.
