Lights out!

It was a night she had long been longing for. They were to have dinner in a really fancy restaurant which had a long waiting list.
She thought it was going to be “THE” night, the one, very special where he would ask “THE” question.
They set off to the place, dressed up to the nines. He had everything prepared and planned to the minute.
It seemed like an eternity until the elevator came to take them down to the street. Finally, they started the descent.
And then… the lights went out and the elevator came to a sudden halt.
After a brief moment of darkness the emergency lighting flashed into existence and he reached for the emergency call button.
Pressing the button hat no effect. No voice came out of the speakers. Obviously all power to the city had been cut off and even the emergency systems failed under the sudden load.
Sudden fear took her over. They would fall and be crashed on the ground. She panicked. Only his firm grip and soothing voice could calm her a little.
She melted into his embrace and cried.
