I would hope this was just a poem and not a reflection of something you struggle with.

This is very powerful stuff here but I really hope this isn’t a reflection of something that happened to you or something you’re working through. Cutting isn’t something to be taken lightly

Abby – simply amazing.

I used to have a problem like this (but not taking out my flesh…) and it’s nothing easy to overcome. This was intense and real and reflected how sad things like this are. It shouldn’t be taken lightly but it does happen and it’s inevitable. People always feel alone and sad but it takes a true someone to realize that they aren’t and that people care.

Whether this is a reflection or not, we all care about you here on ficly and you are appreciated!!

I also hope that this isn’t something you’re going through. But even if it is, writing it out will be an even better catharsis than cutting. :)

My only criticism is that the word “breaking” gets a bit redundant in the sixth stanza.

Thank-you everyone for your comments and input. This is a problem for me, but not to a point of danger. I will get round to commenting on all of your latest works. My excuse for the moment is excess physics work.

The imagery is striking and cuts deep, and there’s a haunting sort of melody to it. Absolutely stunning.

The sixth stanza is by far my favorite. “And I’ll be left here breaking with a slowly breaking heart”
That’s a great line. I love it.

Arrrg, not a cutting poem. Sorry, but it’s just such an unhealthy thing that too many people try to glorify. I don’t think that’s what you were doing here, but I could really make it through the poem cause of the content—my issue, not yours.

Ouch. I’m practically speechless. It’s beautiful, poignant, painful. I pray you come to terms with your pain, as I pray I do with mine.

Excellent control of the language. Stunning. Agreed that the theme is uncomfortable; however, what we write about is often dark, or troubling, or hard to accept.
