Very sorrowful and it left me in an odd mood, yet at the end of the story there is a chance of hope. This is very intriguing. I loved it!

I don’t see the uplifting end. But otherwise agree with the other comments.

Yeah, interesting that the other commenters see a chance for redemption at the end – I just see a narrator being swallowed up by flames.

It’s a powerful little piece, though.
