Broken Slumber

Please dab a sponge of water on my heart, that I may know the full force of your tears. For there was a dream of light rain, and then I awoke, and lo! There you were, moving away, cheeks still wet. I was a fool for not knowing the full force of your pain.

Before you return to bed, let us dream awake. Close your eyes, and let worry fall from your face. Now stretch your arms full length before you, and I will come to you.

Let us whisper, but nothing that would disturb this fragile peace. Talk of the day. Folly of friends. Come now, that comical joke? One last smile before you fall into night’s embrace once more.

A chaste kiss, and I will lead you back. Let the day shine bright on purpose and resolution. The night is for comfort and peace, and I will be your warmth and shelter.
