Just an experiment to get me past my writer’s block. I let my playlist go and tried to use lyrics from the songs to get something going. This took four songs, one for each paragraph.
A solid character/incident sketch. Your grammar, spelling, and punctuation are flawless, so no complaints there. It might be interesting to combine some of the shorter sentences and see how doing so changes the flow and pacing. As it is now, the sentence transitions feels slightly abrupt. That said, I wouldn’t change the second paragraph. The short sentences function well for its back-and-forth descriptions. Perhaps you could post what songs you were listening to? I’m always interested in what music other authors use to become inspired. Also, my notebox is available if you ever wish for conversation on the topic of writer’s block. I am no expert on the subject, but I can at least lend an ear and two cents.
Great title. Music is like a drug – loosening the mind to fresh imagination. Blagh writer’s block =( Maybe if you ignore it, it’ll think that it hasn’t affected you and will die.
Out of interest, what songs did you use? I didn’t recognise the lyrics as standing out so you blended them in really well.
Hope your wonderful inspiration returns soon. Abby x
