Second Life: First Test
“What do you remember?” The words had a funny cadence, as if the person speaking was reading them phoenetically rather than in their native language.
My memories were jumbled and I found it difficult to speak. Forcing the sounds past numb lips, my own words had the same strange cadence as the speaker before me. “I was lost. Lost in a gray place. Everything was very confusing.”
“How long did you wander in that place?”
I didn’t understand the question. Time there had no meaning. There were no idyllic mornings nor glorious sunsets, only a kind of omnipresent gloom. The cycle of day and night had been broken. I struggled to find the right words to make myself understood and ended up saying nothing for what seemed like a long period of time.
A different voice spoke up from a different part of the room. “Nevermind that, you can answer that after you think about it some more. Think back carefully, did you see anybody else there?”
This question was much easier. “I saw people- a lot of people. And monsters too.”
