“I have a surprise for you.”
She laughed with excitement, “Well where is it? Where are you taking me?”
“Here.” He stopped in a patch of green grass overlooking a children’s park.
“Here?”
He nodded and smiled.
“Okay, could you tell me what’s going on? I’m totally lost”
“It’s a spot!”
“What are you talking about?”
“This is the spot where we ate lunch one time. You were frustrated from work because you didn’t get your raise so I took you out for lunch. It was the first time I ever saw you put on flip-flops. I remember you said you hated seeing your toes in the open so you never wore them.”
She laughed hysterically, “How did you remember that?”
“I don’t know. I always tend to remember days like those.” He bent down on one knee, “And it’s days like these that I will never forget either.”
“Oh my goodness.”
“I love you. You have been my first everything, and I want you to be my last everything. Grow old with me.” He opened the ring and looked up to her with hope in his eyes.
She looked at him, the ring, then smiled.
