Smart Yet Naive
As I tried liquid
to burn through my walls,
I realized that
I was not
burning through my walls,
but in fact
burning through
myself.
I burnt myself
from not only the pain
as the fluid ran dryly
down my throat,
but I burnt myself
by making the eyes
even more of a burden.
The liquid was encouragement for them
to stare longer,
harder,
and I was so naive
thinking that you could really
knock down a wall
with liquid.
