I love that it’s all about your fairy character. You use a context, background and species that isn’t classically portrayed in such a serious, negative way. I like that. And I had to look up Shimeji mushrooms so … kudos!

There’s a few errors of punctuation throughout that I’m sure can be fixed wtih a read through.

I’d love to know more about the character, this could definitely develop further. However I’ve got a great feel for the character – they’re emotion, self-loathing, self-pity and intense betrayal. It’s a tangled mess of feeling building up to that poignant last line. Great job and thanks for entering =)

This mushroom world, full of huge heartbreaking decisions and strange customs, has a anime feel and is breathtakingly devastating.

I don’t see how this is about a fairy? I looked up shimeji – it’s just a type of mushroom… Am I missing something?

This character is small enough to hide between the stems of mushrooms. I was intending the character to be a faerie.

Whether fey or not, this piece sets up a nice internal /moral conflict of the character, adding depth. BTW, it’s dying (as in death) not dieing (as in working with a stamp or metal die)
