This might be a false impression, because I’ve only read a chapter or two of the novel I’m about to reference, but… so far this feels like Neal Stephenson’s “The Diamond Age” as far as the casual ordering of body parts / biological/nano upgrades. I like the idea and it has encouraged me to pick that novel back up to see where it goes.
Like other commentators, the jargon used here and in the prequel is not completely clear to me yet, but in the context of a larger story I think the full definitions of each term would become apparent.
I am nearly finished with a novel that uses this kind of “gradual reveal” for its futuristic terms, and it works very well. :)
@ futurist how could you quote something you only read a few chapters of, that is like saying i read genisis one and two that is why i joined the army of constantine. Next time engage your brain before you try to pitch your novel to strangers. Ans mason i fuctin love how he sat down to watch casablanca where the entire film is about rebirth i mean everyone, even the dude who owns the bar down to bogey and the dead nazis, that was pure geniius. oh yeah and futurist the reason its not clear to you is because you are and idiot
dude you attract some live ones but i guess that is why i am here huh? so look i am syre when i am done noone will like me but i love your stuff. i am lik,e bizarro elsha i think, i love her though and talk to her minimum212 times a day she centers me.
Kind of dropped the ball on this story. I’ll get back to it. But a spoiler: They’re growing a new body for him out of the goo. His mind will transfer into the new body. And then his old body becomes…spare parts.
This doesn’t feel so much like a ficly short story as an extract from a chapter of a novel (as others have pointed out). Jargon definitely starts making a bit more sense now that we’re on the second instalment though.
