Interesting Chance

“Marco, pull in here.”

“Not yet Maria, we haven’t passed the cemetery yet.”

“Yes we did, just there, a mile back.”

“Were looking for one with crypts. It should be coming up soon.”

Within a mile, Maria could see what they were looking for, large concrete boxes, leaning in different directions.

Marco slowed and pulled into the northern gate. The instructions told them to look for a fresh grave site. Weaving in and out of the maze, Maria finally saw fresh flowers, whispering for Marco to stop.

“Why are you whispering, these are not our dead.”

Maria jumped out, retrieving a fresh magnetic bumper sticker from under the back seat. Kneeling at the shiny rear end of their car, she peeled off Javier Duarte de Ochoa for Governor! replacing it with Martin Padua for Mayor!

Two hours later, the outskirts to Marco’s mother’s town was marked with a blue and orange billboard, Mayor Padua Welcomes You!

“It looks like the drug lord is finally a Mayor. I wonder if they paid my mother to vote again.”
