Interesting style to it. I’m undecided. The first paragraph read far too ‘heavy’ to me, but it fits the overall feel you seem to have been going for. It grew on me, but by the end I still wasn’t sure I liked the style.

a little heavy handed on character motivation and the story didn’t add much that the title did spell out, but then again I did watch The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford , even if the movie title gave away the ending.
