Dandelions

“So, if you could wish for anything in the world, what would it be?”
“Duh, more wishes.”
“Well, if you couldn’t wish for that… That doesn’t count, pick something else.”

It’s a familiar dialogue. Wish for more wishes, and you have everything you want; the proverbial Having and Eating of The Cake. But it’s ruled out, because the real reason people pose this question is simple curiosity; just to know what makes you tick. Truth be told, if I rubbed a magic lamp, I would wish for more wishes too. Is is greed, or just human nature? Some hidden desire to beat the system? Who knows.

The bottom line, though, is that people always forget about simple things. It’s normal to want the greener grass, the shinier toy, the new horizon. But look down. Look at your feet. There’s a dandelion there, in full bloom, quiet and fluffy and white. It represents a wish; the best kind of wish. Pick it up, blow the seeds into the breeze, make a wish… and the seeds will grow and bloom into even more wishes. It’s the cycle of life.
